My Favourite Chords

This past week wasn't exactly what I had imagined it to be. The day that I left for BC I felt that I had everything going very well at work, with an ionophore cocktail made and ready to selectively sense divalent cadmium ions with an appropriate Nernstian slope. Alas, the start of the week prove to be more like a Rubiks cube, a tangle of strings ready to be untied, until finally when the lock is off the box and the lid comes off a cute business card with a glossy finish lays at the bottom of the package which says "T. Ry Again, Problem Solving Expert, Business hours 2:15 AM-2:30 AM Sunday Morning." It's a puzzle that's constantly making me turn around back down the path I just took so that I can get through the maze of numbers and theoretical principles that I've never encountered before. Is it frustrating? Yeah it is, but it's sure rewarding... or so I'm told. I've always been one for the puzzles though. I love problem solving.

I was six years and we were at my Oma and Opa for Sinter Clause and I was very excited. The thought of being able to open one of those shiny packages under the tree got my motor going. I remember going right away to the tree after giving my Opa and Oma a hug so that I could see if my gift was there yet, and then proceed to shake and imagine what could be inside. I'm not even sure what I wanted that Christmas, but I know what I got wasn't what I expected. We were gathered around the tree with the extended family; adults on the couches and chairs while the grandchildren sprawled out on the orange shag carpet eagerly awaiting for our names to be called. Finally my name was called and I raced to grab my present, seeing as I knew exactly where it was and what I sounded, felt and smelt like. I ripped off the paper, discarding it as a penguin discards the scaly exterior of its food. And alas, staring back up at me were the faces of two painted children that I didn't know on the cover of a box. "150 piece jig-saw" the box read, and once seeing this, I dropped the box as tears filled my eyes, and went out of the room crying as I found safety on the stairs near the front door. It was there I cried because I got a puzzle for my present, and apparently I did not want one. I am a whiny little troll.

Cheers.
